The inspiration for the Petit Duc bench came from the desire to create a product that could be installed both indoors and outdoors. The stone shelf of the bench is made from "Moellons," a type of shale sandstone sourced from the town of Malmedienne in Wallonia. The use of local materials and knowledge was essential in creating an ideal product for the region.
What sets the Petit Duc bench apart is its composition. The bench features a shale sandstone tablet, which is one-of-a-kind in the world. After machining, the stone offers different surfaces with unique patterns, adding a touch of elegance to any space. The refined legs, made of metallized and powdered steel, are specially designed to support the stone and withstand the elements.
When it comes to the production process, transforming steel and shale sandstone into the Petit Duc bench requires various machining operations. The stone is extracted from the Warche quarry and cut using a single wire machine. The tablet is then machined using CNC technology, polished to the desired finish, and chamfered by hand. The steel parts are laser cut, bent, and welded together. The final step involves metallizing the steel structure and applying a layer of powder paint for resistance to corrosion and UV.
The specifications of the Petit Duc bench are 340 mm x 2000 mm x 450 mm, weighing 80 kg. Its sleek and modern design, combined with the use of high-quality materials, make it a standout piece of furniture for both indoor and outdoor spaces.
The design team behind the Petit Duc bench includes Julien Hac as the designer, Gilles Poitier as the graphic designer, and Charles Nelles as the director. Their collaboration and attention to detail have resulted in a truly exceptional piece of furniture.
The Petit Duc bench is not only a visually stunning piece, but it also offers functionality and durability. Whether placed on a terrace or in an interior space, it adds a touch of sophistication and elegance. The bench is a testament to the designer's commitment to using local materials and supporting short circuits, ensuring the highest quality and value.
With its unique design, the Petit Duc bench has garnered attention and recognition in the design world. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2022, a prestigious accolade that celebrates well-designed, practical, and innovative creations. The bench's integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics contribute to a better world.
Experience the beauty and functionality of the Petit Duc bench, a true masterpiece that combines art, architecture, and design. Its timeless design and use of local materials make it a standout piece for any space, both indoors and outdoors.
